West London Zone commissioned Football Beyond Borders, a football inspired literacy programme operating in our Zone, to deliver a year long football themed literacy programme to secondary aged boys and girls.

The programme uses a young person’s passion for football to inspire them to achieve their goals and potential both on the pitch and in the classroom.

The programme is delivered weekly after school, on school premises, and is facilitated by Football Beyond Borders staff, supported by the WLZ Link Worker and the school's Head of PE.

"The young people really enjoy their sessions with Football Beyond Borders, the coaches create a positive space for them to talk about things that are both football related and relevant to the children. The young people are always treated with respect which means that in turn, they hugely respect the coaches," Alex Brooke, Link Worker at Ark Burlington Danes Academy Secondary School
