Two weeks ago, we had the opportunity to take three students to a careers event at the Excel centre.

From the start you could sense that not only were the children excited to go to the event itself, but it presented a chance for them to travel to East London and see a new part of their city.

We spent about 2 hours at the event walking from stand to stand where there were representatives from a wide range of companies, colleges and universities such as BBC, KPMG, Tesco and City University.

The students got the opportunity to learn more about what their job entailed as well as what steps they could take to get there. After walking around, talking to the representatives and collecting freebies we reflected back as a group.

Each of the students had a much clearer idea of where they wanted to go in the future and felt excited about the prospects of starting a future career.
